With Sony Foundation’s programs spread far and wide across Australia, we were just too excited when we learnt of the joint initiative between Rainbow Corporate Partner Sky News and Sony Music Australia with their new program, Paul Murray LIVE Our Town. This tour will see Sky News’ number one show visit regional locations across Australia throughout 2019, a number of which are home to Sony Foundation’s programs.

Throughout the series, Sony Music artists, who are also committed and passionate Sony Foundation ambassadors, will join host Paul Murray in each regional town to help create a unique and emotional experience for those living in the heartland of Australia. The tour will continue every month and see some of the biggest names in Australian music including Conrad Sewell, Jessica Mauboy, Daryl Braithwaite and Dami Im.

Recently, the Sky News Our Town team, took a trip across the Bass Strait to visit Launceston, Tasmania. Here they met a very special young camper, Bradie Lee.

Bradie Lee is a bubbly, bright and loving 12 year old who was diagnosed with Battens Disease, a rare, fatal, inherited disorder of the nervous system. Because of this, Bradie-Lee suffers from muscular dystophy, mobility loss, epilepsy, intellectual impairment, has lost all vision and requires a wheelchair for mobiility and has attended two Sony Foundation Holiday Camps at Launceston Church Grammar Sony Camp in Launceston, Tasmania.

Every year, Sony Foundation grants the Sony Foundation Children’s Holidy Camp Special Grant of $10,000, for a camper and their family, who are in need of further respite. Families are nominated by the camp schools that hosted them, and their teenage camp companions.

During their interview on Paul Murray LIVE: Our Town, Bradie-Lee and her mother, Karen, much to their delight, were surprised with news that they would be receiving the $10,000 grant.

The grant will be used to ensure their family home is modified to make it more accessible for Bradie-Lee.
