Sony SingStar Sensations!26364582

We can tell from the number of people calling us for an encore performance, that our inaugural Sony SingStar event was a huge amount of fun!

To the 24 brave performers who took to the stage, well done.... who knew there was so much talent amongst the Sony Corporation! And to the 200+ staff who attended from the six Sony companies, thank you for supporting your colleagues and peers.... loved the fluoro gear and the posters were a great touch.

With a dazzling performance of Unchained Melody (see attached photograph), we congratulate our ultimate SingStar Champion, David Seeto from Sony Australia. Gallant in defeat, our thanks must go to Sony Music Artist Mark Vincent, who took the loss on the chin and then reconfirmed his status as one of Australia’s most talented sons, with an acapella rendition of Hallelujah.

Also to our tireless volunteers, Jamie Wong from Sony Australia, who captured the night’s events as our official photographer, and Sarah Fitzgerald from Sony Music, who kept the SPHE dancers on their feet with her sensational DJ skills until we turned on all the lights and told them go home!

We have already fielded requests for the next Sony United event. This dedicated Sony staff section is your chance to stay in touch so keep the ideas coming in and stay tuned....

Sydney High Tea Party26364582

When we found out that organisers of the Sydney High Tea Party, Peppermint Group, had assigned Sony Foundation as the charity of choice for their extravagant October weekend event, Sony Australia quickly rallied the troops and with some expert photography skills from volunteer staff we raised close to $2,000 for the Children’s Holiday Camp Program, as the Sony Foundation team took fun photos of the ladies during their traditional high tea sessions.

Spirits were high and our volunteers Kelly Finlay, Claire Wong, Ross Coroneos, Lisa Arnold, Sharon Tiqui and Edward Truong were great Ambassadors promoting the camps to hundreds of women who walked away with a photographic memento of the day’s activities.

But while the guests were busy testing out the enormous range of products and freebies on offer, behind the scenes it was Jamie Wong and Ant Moy, whose fine technical skills ensured our printer survived.... who knows where we would have been without your trusty toolbox!

So a special thank you to Jamie and Ant who gave up almost half their weekend to help out with this event.

It was great to see some new faces, each and every one of you made our job much easier – thanks again and keep up the fancy photography skills for next time!!

City2Surf26364582

Sydney put on another stunning day for the 2009 City2Surf Charity Challenge and Team Sony were there in numbers to enjoy the atmosphere at what is considered one of the world’s greatest fun run. For our first timers, we hope you’ll be back for more next year!

I am very pleased to announce that this year there were a total of 53 runners from the Sony group of Companies, and we must thank you for your tremendous fundraising efforts... Team Sony raised over $6,500!

A special thanks to...

Marek Jaworski (Sony Computer Entertainment) who raised a whopping $950

Di Shepherd (Sony Australia) raising an impressive $600

Jodie Lawson (Sony Computer Entertainment) not far behind with a striking $585

Congratulations also to Greg Wilson from Sony DADC, first to arrive at the Team Sony marshalling point on Sunday morning and first member of Team Sony to cross the finish line in a speedy time of 53:03. You certainly beat us out of the blocks and never looked back!

The best pre-race photo goes to Team Sony regulars Di Shepherd and Hannah Serov, we love your enthusiasm ladies!

We look forward to the next Team Sony event and in the meantime... keep up the training!
